Summary
We are seeking a strong, relationship-driven, highly organized Center Director to lead our early learning center into its next phase of growth and excellence. We are looking for a leader who understands that exceptional childcare is built on more than curriculum—it is built on trust, communication, consistency, professionalism, and strong leadership.
This is a high-impact leadership role for someone who can confidently manage 12 Teachers, 1 Program Supervisor, 1 Office Administrator and 1 Cook while leading the center in four critical areas:
- Parent engagement & family retention
- Enrollment growth
- Licensing compliance
- Team leadership & operational excellence
Duties
- Build strong, positive relationships with current and prospective families
- Monitor vacancies, waitlists, enrollment trends, and retention patterns
- Support family retention through relationship-building and service excellence
- Ensure the center operates in full compliance with all applicable Washington State licensing regulations and internal policies at all times
- Train and hold staff accountable to licensing expectations and center standards
- Support staff development, morale, and retention while maintaining high standards
- Oversee the daily flow and overall presentation of the center
- Ensure a safe, organized, and welcoming environment for children, families, and staff
- Oversee scheduling, staffing coordination, and operational problem-solving
- Maintain high standards in communication, professionalism, and follow-through
- Maintain personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement
Requirements
- 4 years of direct professional experience in an early childhood setting.
- Minimum of 1 year of supervisory experience (Center Director, Assistant Director, Program Supervisor or similar role).
- State Certificate (47 ECE credits) is a must.
- Strong knowledge of WACs.
- Experience supporting or driving family enrollment and retention.
- Strong staff leadership, coaching, and accountability skills.
- Excellent organizational, administrative, and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm, professional, and solutions-oriented in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work well with others (staff, children, and parents) and to foster a team environment.
- A strong understanding of child development.
- Must have all preservice requirements up to date (Cleared PBC, valid First Aid/CPR, valid BBP, negative TB test, MMR vaccine or proof of immunity, food handler's permit, CCB, valid safe sleep, etc.)
