Early Childhood/Preschool Teacher in Nashville, TN

Summary

Westminster School for Young Children employs approximately 45 faculty members.  The school environment is collaborative, warm, professional, and strives to support 

teachers who are passionate about providing play-based and nurturing learning experiences for young children ages 1-5. WSYC follows the lowest student:teacher ratios 

recommended by our accrediting agency, the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). Teachers are on campus from 8:30-2:30 daily. Our school year runs from mid-August to mid-May with a 5-week summer program. On Mondays, students are dismissed at 12:00, giving teachers built-in time in their schedules to work in their classrooms, collaborate with their team, and for professional development. WSYC offers generous pay and benefits. 

Duties

• Plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities that support children’s growth, incorporating an understanding of developmental milestones and play-based learning.
• Collaborate effectively with co-teachers and team members to create a positive, supportive classroom environment.
• Demonstrate openness to feedback and a willingness to continuously grow and improve teaching practices.
• Use problem-solving skills to navigate classroom challenges and support both children and colleagues.
• Maintain a high level of professionalism, including reliability, organization, and respectful communication with staff and families.
• Apply relevant experience to support classroom routines, student engagement, and overall program quality.

Requirements

• Experience working with young children (preschool or early childhood setting preferred)
• Genuine passion for working with and teaching young children
• Understanding of (or willingness to learn) basic child development and play-based learning practices
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
• Strong communication skills and openness to feedback
• Reliable, organized, and professional in day-to-day responsibilities
