Head Pre-K Teacher in Westfield, NJ

Summary

Temple Emanu-El’s Early Learning Center in Westfield, NJ is looking for a caring, energetic HEAD TEACHER FOR PRE-K to join our amazing team next school year 2026-27.

Hours: 8:45-3pm (preferably extending hours up to 5:30)

Duties

• Plan and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum
• Create a safe, responsive, and organized classroom environment
• Lead and supervise assistant teachers and support classroom teamwork
• Observe, assess, and document children’s growth and development
• Communicate regularly and professionally with families
• Collaborate with administration, colleagues, and specialists as needed
• Support classroom routines, transitions, and special events
• Maintain licensing, health, and safety standards

Requirements

• Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field
• Experience teaching preschool-age children
• Strong classroom management and communication skills
• Ability to lead a team with warmth and professionalism
• Understanding of child development and play-based learning
• Physical requirements include the ability to lift and carry up to 45 pounds and maintain a level of physical fitness that allows for activities such as bending and moving easily throughout the classroom environment.
• Must clear full background check and must pass health screening
