Director Assistant in Memphis, TN

Summary

We are seeking a passionate, experienced, and drive Childcare Director to lead daily operations, support staff, and uphold the high standards of Smart Academy. The ideal candidate is a strong leader who values structure, compliance, and creating a nurturing environment where children and staff can thrive

Duties

Leadership & Staff Management

• Lead, mentor, and support teachers and staff daily
• Conduct staff evaluations, coaching, and ongoing training
• Create staff schedules and maintain proper classroom coverage

Center Operations

• Oversee daily operations to ensure efficiency and organization
• Maintain proper staff-to-child ratios at all times
• Manage enrollment, tours, and family onboarding

Compliance & Safety

• Ensure full compliance with TDHS licensing standards
• Maintain accurate records (attendance, incident reports, child files)
• Enforce health, safety, and sanitation policies

Curriculum Oversight

• Ensure classrooms follow age-appropriate curriculum and lesson plans
• Support teachers in delivering engaging, educational activities
• Monitor classroom environments for quality and consistency

Family Engagement

• Build strong, professional relationships with families
• Address concerns with professionalism and care
• Communicate regularly with parents regarding their child’s progress

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field (required)
• Minimum of 2 years experience working in a licensed childcare setting
• Previous leadership or management experience (strongly preferred)
• Knowledge of Tennessee Department of Human Services (TDHS) licensing regulations
• CPR/First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain)
• Must pass background check •Strong leadership and decision-making skills
