We are seeking a full or part time teacher assistant to support the teachers by helping to maintain a caring and safe environment for the children and assisting in activities to improve the overall care and quality of education. S/he must be able to communicate, listen and work well with others in a team environment.....assisting the staff in implementing a quality educational program and in developing positive relationships with the children and their parents.
Actively engage in and assist in the implementation of daily activities and encourage participation by children
Maintain a clean, safe, happy, and fun learning environment for all students
Establish and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, and co-workers
Communicate positively with parents on students' daily activities
Help ensure smooth, daily transitions from home to school
Follow all center policies and state regulations
Ability to build a positive rapport with young children through a positive, patient demeanor
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work well with others
Must be willing to become certified in CPR / Basic First Aid (can be done online)
Must clear a full background check (to include fingerprinting)
Must be willing to take 2 state-mandated online, self-paced workshops
NICE TO HAVE BUT NOT REQUIRED:
College degree
Experience working with young children 18 months through 5 years old

The Lawrence School for Young Children is a 5-star early childhood facility (in Vermont's STARS program) serving up to forty 0-5-year-olds each day for the past 40 years in the Manchester/Dorset area. All of our staff are college graduates; two are licensed early childhood educators through the VT DOE. LSYC also participates in the state's UPK program, offering free preschool hours for all 3-4-year-olds.
