Position Overview
We are seeking a Director of Curriculum & Family Engagement to support instructional quality, strengthen teacher practice, and ensure consistent, high-quality communication with families.
This role works closely with the Executive Director to uphold program excellence, support teachers, and strengthen connections with `ohana.
Duties
Key Responsibilities
Curriculum & Instruction
- Review weekly lesson plans for alignment with:
- HELDS
- Common Core
- Hawaiʻi State Standards
- Ensure integration of Hawaiian culture, ʻike kūpuna, and place-based learning
- Provide clear, constructive feedback to teachers
- Support differentiated instruction across ability levels
Teacher Support & Accountability
- Monitor lesson plan quality and consistency
- Support classroom management and instructional practices
- Provide coaching and feedback grounded in respect and growth
Family Communication
- Draft and review all parent-facing communication
- Ensure messaging is:
- Clear
- Professional
- Warm and culturally grounded
- Review teacher-parent communication before distribution
Family Engagement
- Strengthen relationships between school and ʻohana
- Support/plan events, communication strategies, and engagement efforts
Administrative & Executive Support
- Support program operations and special projects
- Assist Executive Director with delegated tasks
- Help maintain organization, timelines, and accountability
Requirements
Qualifications
- Experience in early childhood education (required)
- Strong understanding of:
- HELDS
- Standards-based curriculum
- Child development (ages 3–5)
- Experience with lesson planning and instructional coaching
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to provide feedback with both aloha and accountability
- Deep respect for Hawaiian culture and community
Nice To Haves
Preferred
- Experience in culturally grounded or Hawaiian-focused education
- Leadership or coaching experience
- Familiarity with differentiation and leveled instruction
