Forest Hill Child Care Center (FHCCC) is a fully licensed, nonprofit, nonsectarian early childhood education center located in Richmond’s Forest Hill neighborhood. As a state subsidy provider, we are committed to providing accessible, high-quality care to a diverse range of families in the Richmond area. We currently serve approximately 70 children. Our center serves children aged 6 weeks to 5 years and is supported by a dedicated team of about 25 staff members.
Supported by a dedicated team of 25 staff and a leadership team including an Operations Manager and a Family Engagement Manager, the Director ensures the daily operations meet the highest standards of care, regulatory compliance, and community impact. We are seeking a collaborative leader who is approachable, organized, and committed to building a cohesive, inclusive team.

1) Leadership and Organizational Management: Provide clear and consistent leadership rooted in best practices. Guide the center through short- and long-term planning efforts with the Board. Act as the primary liaison to the Board of Directors, providing regular updates on enrollment, compliance, and center health. Enforce policies transparently. Maintain the center’s standing as a fully licensed VDOE facility and subsidy provider.
2) Team Building and Staff Support: Recruit, hire, and onboard a diverse and qualified staff. Foster a collaborative and respectful workplace culture. Support the team through regular engagement and listening. Foster a collaborative workplace culture through mentorship, regular performance evaluations, and professional development opportunities. Address concerns with staff.
3) Communication and Community: Communicate with transparency across all levels. Be a visible and approachable presence. Ensure policies are understood across all levels. Represent FHCCC in the broader community through outreach and partnership engagement.
4) Administrative Oversight: Oversee all center operations, including scheduling, drills, documentation, and compliance reporting. Manage digital records related to licensing, training, child files, and enrollment. Delegate key administrative responsibilities to the appropriate staff.
1) Bachelor’s degree or higher in a child-related field or an equivalent amount of training and experience.
2) Minimum three years of early childhood experience, with some experience in an administrative or leadership role.
3) Some familiarity with aspects related to business operations and knowledge of VDOE licensing standards, subsidy management, and best practices.
4) Comfort with technology for recordkeeping, parent communication, and team coordination.
Experience in or willingness to be engaged in fundraising and/or grant writing
