Toddler Teacher Age Group: 1½ – 2 years old in Newport News, VA

Summary

First Steps Children Learning Center is currently looking for a caring and reliable Toddler Teacher to join our team.

Age Group: 18 months – 2 years old

Schedule: Full-Time (35–40 hours per week)

Hours: Monday–Friday 8:30 a.m - 5:30 pm

Duties

• Supervise and ensure the safety of children at all times
• Plan and assist with age-appropriate activities
• Support children’s learning and development
• Maintain a clean and organized classroom
• Communicate with parents and staff professionally

Requirements

We are looking for an energetic teacher who enjoys being active and engaged with children throughout the day. This position requires interacting with toddlers through songs, movement, play-based learning, and simple educational activities.

The ideal candidate:

• Loves working with young children
• Must be responsible, patient, and reliable
• Can create a safe and nurturing environment
• Is energetic and enjoys participating in activities with children
• Has childcare experience (preferred)

Job Expectations:

• Engaging toddlers in learning activities such as songs, sounds, colors, and simple routines
• Encouraging children to help clean up toys and follow classroom routines
• Changing diapers as needed
• Maintaining a clean and organized classroom
• Cell phone usage is not allowed while supervising children
