Summary
ASSISTANT TEACHER QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must meet basic requirements of DHS licensing.
- Attend staff meetings and in-service training as required, a total of (18 hrs.) and (24 hrs.) for new staff.
- Must have the ability to relate to young children in a positive manner.
- Previous experience working with children preferred.
Duties
MAJOR FUNCTIONS:
- Assist the teacher in the implementation of daily plan of activities.
- Work with the teacher in maintaining a safe and healthy environment for children.
- Assist teacher in maintaining good communications with parents.
- Obtain in-service and yearly training requirements.
- Understand child care requirements.
- Keep Director informed of any classroom problems, change in schedules, such as playground, music and end of the year parties or any other activities.
- Assist in keeping the room well organized and arranged appropriately.
- Cooperate with other staff to create a professional environment.
- Assist in maintaining visual supervision of children.
- Assist in maintaining records.
- Assist in music, gymnastics, and any other needed areas.
- Make daily bleach water solution for cleaning tables.
- Prepare daily snack at appropriate time.
- Assist in cleaning room each afternoon prior to leaving.
- Any other duties that are needed to properly perform the job.
