Summary
The Food Service Coordinator & Cook is responsible for planning, preparing, and serving nutritious meals in a daily dining center environment. This role ensures compliance with CACFP (Child and Adult Care Food Program) guidelines, maintains kitchen operations, and supports efficient food service through organization, inventory control, and budgeting.
Duties
Key Responsibilities
Meal Preparation & Compliance
- Prepare and cook daily meals in accordance with CACFP guidelines and nutritional standards
- Ensure proper portioning, meal components, and documentation for compliance
- Maintain food safety and sanitation standards at all times
Menu Planning & Ordering
- Assist in planning menus that meet CACFP requirements and participant needs
- Order food, supplies, and kitchen materials within budget guidelines
- Monitor food usage and minimize waste
Data Entry & Systems Management
- Accurately input meal counts, menus, and required data into designated systems
- Maintain records for compliance, reporting, and audits
Kitchen Operations
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and dining areas
- Ensure all equipment is properly used, cleaned, and maintained
- Follow health department regulations and safety procedures
Inventory & Budget Management
- Track inventory levels and conduct regular counts
- Manage kitchen spending and adhere to budget requirements
- Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality
Coordination & Leadership
- Coordinate daily kitchen operations and workflow
- Establish and maintain a consistent style and standard of food service and safety of kitchen.
- Pass and maintain a Food Handlers certification.
- Complete required annual trainings.
Requirements
- 1 – 2 years of professional experience in food service; preferably in childcare or institutional setting.
- Basic math skills for measuring and portioning.
- Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification.
- Must clear full background check.
- Must pass food handlers course
Benefits
