Summary

Calvary Chapel Christian Academy is seeking a dependable Kitchen Manager to oversee daily food service operations for our school in Newport News, Virginia. This position is responsible for meal planning, food preparation, kitchen organization, breakfast service, food safety compliance, and coordination of food-related resources. The Kitchen Manager plays an important role in supporting student health, daily school operations, and family satisfaction. This role works closely with school leadership and kitchen support staff to ensure meals are nutritious, safe, and served in a timely and professional manner.

Duties

• Plan and prepare daily meals for students
• Collaborate with kitchen support staff to develop weekly menus
• Prepare and serve meals in a timely manner
• Oversee breakfast service three days per week
• Receive and organize food bank deliveries
• Incorporate available food resources into meal planning
• Maintain proper food storage and minimize waste
• Follow food safety and sanitation procedures at all times
• Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen
• Monitor kitchen cleanliness and sanitize surfaces, tools, and equipment
• Coordinate with the School Business Administrator regarding food and supply needs
• Assist with inventory management and weekly purchasing planning
• Support kitchen assistants or support staff as needed
• Coordinate meal schedules with classroom and school needs
• Maintain dependable attendance and daily operational consistency

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Experience in food service, kitchen operations, or meal preparation preferred
• Ability to organize work efficiently and manage multiple responsibilities
• Strong attention to detail and follow-through
• Ability to maintain food safety and sanitation standards
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform active kitchen duties throughout the workday
• Ability to lift and move kitchen supplies and food items safely
• Commitment to supporting the Christian mission and values of Calvary Chapel Christian Academy
