Duties

Responsibilities

• Safely operate a van or similar vehicle to transport passengers to designated locations.
• Ensure timely arrivals and departures according to the scheduled routes.
• Provide exceptional customer service by assisting passengers with boarding and disembarking.
• Maintain a clean and organized vehicle interior.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure safety compliance.
• Communicate effectively with dispatchers and other team members regarding route changes or passenger needs.
• Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations while driving.
• Assist with any special needs of passengers, including those requiring additional support.

Experience

• Previous experience as a Van Driver, Delivery Driver, or in a similar role is preferred.
• Familiarity with commercial driving regulations and safety protocols is essential.
• Experience in customer service roles will be highly valued.
• Strong communication skills are necessary for effective interaction with passengers and team members.
• A valid driver's license with a clean driving record is required.

We are seeking a Daycare Driver to join our team! You will assist in the development and supervision of children.

Transportation

Brighter Beginnings Preschool and Learning Center LLC does annual vehicle safety inspections on each van as well as annual reports pulled for each driver. All vans have been installed with a child safety alarm and the alarms will remain on during the use of vans to transport children. The driver will go through the van to ensure no child is left behind and turn off the alarm. We will also check under all seats.

An emergency kit is placed on each van that consists of the following: First aid Kit, wipes, thermometer, hand sanitizer, Kleenex, Flashlight, and a blanket.

The van driver will do daily maintenance checks of the vehicles which consist of:

Daily check

1. Tires
2. Lights
3. Safety restraints
4. Fuel
5. Free of Debris

The following are rules and guidelines that all children must follow when transportation is provided.

1. Children are always to remain seated.
2. Seat belts are always to be worn until the driver instructs children to unbuckle/or assist to

unbuckle.

1. Children must sit in designated seats, depending on their height/weight/age. They will be.

designated a booster seat, child seat or other according to the law.

1. Children are encouraged to talk amongst themselves, this is a social part of their day, however we

do discourage loud/screaming voices.

1. Children are reminded that there is no food or drinks allowed during travel to ensure safety.
2. The windows on the vans/buses are to be adjusted by the driver to ensure the children feel comfortable in warm weather.
3. Children are not allowed to get out of their seats while the vans/buses are in operation. In case of

an emergency, they may comply with the driver’s directions to do so.

1. There is a mobile phone on the vans/buses for emergency calls.
2. If there is a behavior concern or safety concern, the driver will pull over to remind children of

behavior requirements, and the driver will relay the information back to the Supervisor and

Director of Operations and may then be relayed to the parent/legal guardian if necessary.

10.If behavior concerns continue with a child, transportation will be refused for that child to ensure the

safety of all passengers on the vans/buses.

11.Brighter Beginnings Preschool and Learning Center LLC. Have the right to refuse transportation for your child with limited notice.

Emergency Procedures:

Each member of staff shall adjust emergency procedures to be followed by providers if confronted with an emergency when on the road.

Each member of staff shall ensure that the child(ren) who are on board receive instruction, at least once each semester, about practices and procedures to follow if an emergency occurs while being transported.

Evacuation Procedures for Activities and Field Trips

In order to ensure the safety of the children in an actual emergency, every staff member assigned to transport children on activities or field trips should assign an evacuation team prior to each trip. The team will consist of teachers, cooks, director, or parents. Remember all children need to be trained in case of an emergency.

Each staff member should consist of at least the following:

A staff member will be assigned to set the parking brake, turn off the engine, turn on the hazard warning lights and report the incident to the police department in case the driver is unable to do so.

A staff member will be assigned to lead children to a safe location at least 100 feet from the minivans and will take the first aid kit with them.

A staff member will be assigned to stand outside the vans, next to the front door to help children exit the van.

If needed a staff assigned to the rear of the van will help children exit out of the vans.

Requirements

Driver

Must be 21 years or older and have a high school diploma and/or equivalent. The driver must hold certification in CPR AED and First Aid.

The driver must be flexible during center hours depending on pick up and drop off times of the children. The driver must maintain an excellent driving record and be insurable and well as maintain a copy of their driving record from the DMV.

Other Task can include but not limited to:

1. The driver will pick up and drop the children off at the address on their alternative release form.
2. The driver will make sure that he/she is following the rules of good driving.
3. The driver is not allowed to talk on the phone but will be allowed to have a blue tooth so that if changes happen while he/she is on route they can talk to center staff hands free.
4. The driver and assistant will both be responsible for doing monthly maintenance checks on the vehicles as well as checking the child check system and seat belts.
5. The driver and assistant will be responsible for keeping the vehicles clean inside and out as well.
6. They are also required to keep the vans’ gas tanks at 3/4ths full.

All employees will receive an annual background check.

• Previous experience with childcare or other related fields

• Ability to build rapport with children and their parents
• Positive and patient demeanor

Reporting Requirements

The employee is required to notify the licensee as soon as possible, but no later than the next business day, when any of the following occur:

• The employee has been convicted of a crime.
• The employee has been or is being investigated by any governmental agency for any other act, offense, or omission, including an investigation related to the abuse or neglect or threat of abuse or neglect, to a child or other client, or an investigation related to misappropriation of a client’s property.
• The employee has a substantiated governmental finding against them for abuse or neglect of a child or adult or for misappropriation of a client’s property.
• A professional license held by the employee has been denied, revoked, restricted, or otherwise limited.
