Summary
Black River Area Child Care Center is seeking a passionate and dedicated Lead Childcare Teacher to create a nurturing, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for children. The Lead Teacher will plan and implement lesson plans, oversee classroom management, and ensure the safety and well-being of all children in their care. This role also involves mentoring assistant teachers and fostering strong relationships with families. Pay based on experience.
Duties
Classroom & Curriculum Management:
- Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans that support cognitive, social-emotional, and physical development.
- Use a variety of teaching methods, including play-based learning, structured activities, and individualized instruction.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment.
- Observe and assess children’s progress, adjusting teaching strategies as needed.
Child Supervision & Care:
- Ensure a safe and supportive atmosphere where children can learn and grow.
- Supervise children at all times and ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
- Assist with feeding, diapering, and other basic care needs as required.
Family & Community Engagement:
- Build positive relationships with families through regular communication and updates.
- Encourage family involvement in classroom activities and special events.
Team Leadership & Professional Development:
- Provide guidance and mentorship to assistant teachers.
- Model best practices in early childhood education and classroom management.
- Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities.
Requirements
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Certifications: CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Must be 18 years of age.
- Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with staff, families, and children.
- Additional requirements to be discussed prior to first day working with children.
