Summary

Black River Area Child Care Center is seeking a passionate and dedicated Lead Childcare Teacher to create a nurturing, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for children. The Lead Teacher will plan and implement lesson plans, oversee classroom management, and ensure the safety and well-being of all children in their care. This role also involves mentoring assistant teachers and fostering strong relationships with families. Pay based on experience.

Duties

Classroom & Curriculum Management:

  • Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans that support cognitive, social-emotional, and physical development.
  • Use a variety of teaching methods, including play-based learning, structured activities, and individualized instruction.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment.
  • Observe and assess children’s progress, adjusting teaching strategies as needed.

Child Supervision & Care:

  • Ensure a safe and supportive atmosphere where children can learn and grow.
  • Supervise children at all times and ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
  • Assist with feeding, diapering, and other basic care needs as required.

Family & Community Engagement:

  • Build positive relationships with families through regular communication and updates.
  • Encourage family involvement in classroom activities and special events.

Team Leadership & Professional Development:

  • Provide guidance and mentorship to assistant teachers.
  • Model best practices in early childhood education and classroom management.
  • Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities.

Requirements

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Certifications: CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff, families, and children.
  • Additional requirements to be discussed prior to first day working with children.

Nice To Haves

  • Wisconsin Registry Certificate
