Duties
Plan and implement a variety of developmentally appropriate activities to promote the children's social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development.
Supervise an assistant teacher with whom s/he is assigned to work.
Work with all other staff members in a cooperative manner.
Communicate regularly with your assistant teacher and the Director. Be open to constructive feedback and ideas.
Supervise all activities to ensure the safety of each child at all times.
Observe and document each child’s progress. Create a portfolio for each child.
Hold two parent/teacher conferences per year. Use discipline techniques which provide for positive guidance, redirection, and the setting of clear-cut limits. All techniques shall be designed to help the child develop self-control, positive self-esteem, and respect for the rights of others.
Requirements
Educational Requirement: Hold a minimum of an associate’s degree or a CDA Credential
Experience: Have completed a minimum of one year as a Lead Teacher in a licensed, quality preschool classroom which practices NAEYC’s guidelines of developmentally appropriate practice.
Must be physically able to kneel/sit on the floor, bend over, move quickly, be on your feet for 3 hours, and to lift young children who need assistance
A negative TB test and a valid IVP fingerprint clearance card are required.
Must maintain a neat, clean, and professional appearance.
Must have a kind, gentle, patient, and happy disposition, genuine love for children
