Duties
Toddler Teacher Duties:
- Plan and implement age-appropriate lessons and activities that support early childhood development.
- Create a safe, nurturing, and engaging classroom environment for young children.
- Teach basic skills such as numbers, colors, shapes, letters, and social skills through play-based learning.
- Encourage creativity through art, music, storytelling, and hands-on activities.
- Observe and assess children’s progress and developmental milestones.
- Manage classroom behavior using positive guidance and reinforcement.
- Maintain daily routines including snack time, playtime, and rest periods.
- Communicate regularly with parents about their child’s progress, behavior, and needs.
- Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all children in the classroom.
- Collaborate with other teachers and staff to support children’s learning and development.
- Prepare classroom materials and keep the learning environment organized and clean.
- Follow school policies and early childhood education guidelines.
Requirements
Education Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (minimum requirement in some centers)
Certifications
- Child Development Associate (CDA) (not necessary but a big plus)
- First Aid and CPR certification
- Background check and fingerprint clearance
- Food handler permit (required in some childcare centers)
Skills
- Knowledge of early childhood development
- Classroom management skills
- Patience and strong communication skills
- Creativity in lesson planning and activities
- Ability to work with young children and support their emotional and social growth
- Organizational and teamwork skills
Experience
- Experience working with young children (daycare, preschool, or childcare setting)
- Experience planning educational activities and managing a classroom
Other Requirements
- Ability to supervise children and ensure their safety
- Strong observation skills to monitor children’s progress
- Ability to communicate with parents and staff effectively
Nice To Haves
- Child Development Associate (CDA) certification
- Previous experience working in a preschool or childcare center
- Bilingual abilities (e.g., English and Spanish)
- Training in early childhood curriculum programs (Montessori, Reggio Emilia, etc.)
- Experience with special education or inclusive classrooms
- Knowledge of child assessment and developmental screening tools
- Experience using educational technology or learning apps for young children
- Strong classroom organization and activity planning skills
- Experience planning field trips, events, or parent engagement activities
