Early Childhood: Assistant Director/Teacher

Summary

Duties

• Assist in the implementation of curricula activities and encourage participation by children.
• Actively engage in activities; manage cleanliness, maintenance, and availability of classroom materials.
• Maintain frequent communications with parents through informal discussions and progress reports.
• Encourage self-help and good hygiene through behavior modeling.
• Help ensure smooth, daily transition from home to child care center.
• Follow all center policies and state regulations.
• Maintain personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education (preferred).
• A minimum of 2 years experience working in a childcare, preschool, or faith-based educational setting (preferred).
• Strong understanding of child development and early learning best practices.
• Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills.
• Ability to work in a team-oriented, faith-based environment.
• CPR and First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Must be able to lift 30 lbs, engage in active play, and supervise children throughout the day.

Classroom & Child Development

• Assist in planning and implementing age-appropriate, faith-based learning activities.
• Supervise children, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and structured environment.
• Support teachers in guiding positive social and emotional development among children.
• Observe and document children’s progress, interests, and developmental milestones, sharing insights with staff and parents.
• Assist with mealtimes, nap times, hygiene, and general care to maintain a healthy environment.

Administrative & Leadership Support

• Work closely with the Director to oversee daily operations and ensure smooth classroom transitions.
• Serve as a liaison between staff and parents, fostering positive relationships and clear communication.
• Help maintain attendance records, incident reports, and compliance documentation as required by childcare regulations.
• Assist with scheduling, classroom organization, and staff support to enhance overall program quality.
• Uphold faith-based values and help integrate Christian teachings into daily activities.

Collaboration & Teamwork

• Communicate effectively with the Director, teachers, staff, children, and parents.
• Work alongside teachers to create a positive, engaging, and Christ-centered learning environment.
• Model and encourage professionalism, patience, and empathy when interacting with children and families.
• Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and special events as needed.
