Summary

Oversees the functions, workflow and accountability of CCRI Child and Adult Care Food Program.  Provides training and technical assistance to Child Nutrition Consultants and family child care providers and child care centers participating in the food program.


The CACFP Manager is responsible for the overall administration, operations, and compliance of the program. This includes ensuring adherence to USDA federal regulations (7 CFR Part 226) and North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) requirements.


Key responsibilities include developing and delivering required trainings; managing the receipt and review of required documentation; preparing, evaluating, and submitting monthly reimbursement claims to the state; and coordinating and overseeing required monitoring and site reviews.


The CACFP Manager supervises CACFP staff, ensuring high performance, accountability, and consistent compliance across sponsored homes and centers. This role also collaborates with senior leadership and contributes to broader organizational initiatives at Child Care Resources Inc.

Duties

All positions operating on a hybrid schedule require a minimum of three (3) days per week of onsite presence at CCRI. Consistent adherence to the schedule is an essential function of each role, as it facilitates the efficient execution of key job duties and team collaboration.  

 

  1. Manages the daily operation of the Child and Adult Care Food Program, ensuring that grant outputs and outcomes are met and assuring compliance with program policies. 
  2. Hires, trains, supervises, and conducts annual reviews of the CACFP staff; provides modeling, mentoring and coaching to CACFP consultants. 
  3. Assists Consultants in recruiting, training, collecting, and designing resources for family child care providers and centers (i.e., nutrition education modules, family child care home administration, activities for children). 
  4. Monitors and ensures consistency of CACFP consultants in implementing the program by conducting staff observations and scheduling regular staff meetings. 
  5. Combines Consultants’ monthly reports for agency consolidation and reporting. 
  6. Prepares on a timely basis accurate monthly state claims for provider payment reimbursement and program administration funding. 
  7. Maintains accurate and detailed records including the cost of administering the program for audit purposes.  
  8. Creates individual annual budgets for all centers. 
  9. Works with the agency senior leaders on the annual renewal of state contract and budget.
  10. Practices professional renewal through a variety of means such as attending regional and national conferences, participating in professional organizations, and remaining abreast of current research and literature. 
  11. Responsible for planning and scheduling required training for providers.  Assists in planning appropriate training for Consultants. 
  12. Maintains a caseload of FCCH and centers and participates in the same activities as a consultant including conducting monitoring site visits according to state and federal guidelines. 
  13. Performs other duties as needed to further the agency’s mission and goals. 

 

Requirements


  • Bachelors in either child development, nutrition, elementary education or related field.
  • Three years’ experience in the field of early childhood development, preferably in a family child care home a child care center or a sponsorship.
  • Leadership, coaching, and mentoring skills. 
  • Working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office. 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required. 
  • Valid Driver’s License, Auto Liability Coverage, and Transportation. 
  • Required Experience: Five years of experience administering all aspects of the CACFP regulations for either a school, a center, a sponsor or for a state.
  • Five years’ experience overseeing implementation and compliance of the state and federal regulations CACFP CFR 226.
  • A thorough working knowledge of the North Carolina CACFP financial guidelines.
  • Five years’ experience writing and implementing CACFP budgets for centers and a sponsor of homes and centers budget in accordance with state guidelines.
  • Experience using NC Connects software or another state level CACFP software.
  • Experience using KidKare CACFP software.
  • Basic knowledge of DCDEE childcare licensing regulations.
  • Three years’ experience supervising a team.
  • Experience conducting home and center CACFP reviews.
