Duties
Job Description:
- Support a classroom environment that uses a playful, project-based approach inspired by children’s interests and passions. Ensure all learning areas (literacy, math, nature, science, etc.) are well-prepared, inviting, and accessible to every child.
- Provide guidance that supports children’s social-emotional, physical, and intellectual growth, including healthy risk-taking and community-building.
- Maintain compliance with all state regulations, including completing required training and position-specific coursework.
- Practice redemptive classroom management, coaching, and discipline strategies.
- Keep classroom surfaces free of clutter and disinfected daily, including floors, cubbies, and teacher storage areas. Sweep and vacuum as needed.
- Use Brightwheel daily to record attendance, activities, meals/snacks, and shift updates.
- Attend monthly staff meetings and fully participate in all scheduled professional development days.
Requirements

- Engage in sustained physical activity throughout the day.
- Lift up to 50 lbs. (approximately the size of a small child).
- Hear and see children clearly (20/20 vision with corrective lenses is acceptable).
- Stand, walk, and interact with children at their level.
- Spend multiple hours outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Keep pace with children and fellow staff members.
Nice To Haves
Education, Experience, and Qualifications:
- ECE Initial Certificate or Short ECE Certificate preferred, or a documented plan in MERIT to obtain required certification(s).
- Willingness to exceed the DCYF annual training requirement of 10 hours per year.
- At least one year of experience working with children in a childcare setting preferred.
- Strong writing, speaking, and communication skills.
- WA State Child Abuse Clearance and Criminal History Background Check.
