Position Location: St. Francis Community Center in Brant Beach, NJ 08008
Position Description: This position requires the person to be at least 18 years of age and have a strong desire to work with children. This person must have a warm, nurturing, and friendly personality, be sensitive to the feelings and needs of others (families, children and co-workers), relate well with children and be willing to fulfill his/her responsibilities in accordance with the Center’s/Children’s Services Philosophy/Mission Statement. They must be willing to be a working member of the team to ensure that the children are cared for in a warm, safe and nurturing environment. They must have a background in early childhood education, child development and/or experience in working with children. In addition, this position requires the person to assist the director in planning and executing events, fundraisers, and field trips.

Example of Duties:
• Oversee all School Age Programs
• Take on the role of Vacation Club Coordinator and Health Director
• Assist Director with paperwork and maintaining children’s files
• Assist the director in making sure children’s health records and immunizations are up to date.
• Assist in the classrooms as needed, including providing coverage for supervisors and assistants
• Assist in planning and attend trips and events
• Assist in planning fundraisers
• Assist in hiring staff and conduct staff and parent orientations if needed
• Expected to arrive at work at the scheduled time. If unable to come to work at the specified time, you are expected to contact the director/designee and supervisor as soon as you know so that arrangements can be made for a substitute if needed
• Expected to follow policies when requesting time off.
• Expected to have knowledge of and follow Center policies.
• Expected to have knowledge of and follow the policies of the program, including the regulations of the N.J. Department of Children and Family and NJ Department of Health.
• Follows the NAEYC Code of Ethics Conduct and Statement of Commitment
• Follow the established Children’s Services Discipline Policy.
• Expected to keep current with any policy changes and implement them
• Dress appropriately in compliance with the Center’s/Children’s Services dress code policy.
• Maintain professional behavior in matters regarding interpersonal relationships with co-workers, families, and children.
• Expected to maintain a friendly, positive, and enthusiastic attitude toward children at all times.
• Expected to attend to children’s emotional as well as physical needs.
• Maintain confidentiality in all matters regarding co-workers, families and children.
• Keep current on all certificates.
• Expected to keep open communication between the director, families, and co-workers.
• Expected to attend and participate in staff meetings and required trainings.
• Expected to follow the Child Abuse/Neglect Policy
• Prepare and implement developmentally appropriate weekly lesson plans according to the weekly theme. (School age program)
• Maintain and keep current all the required posted policies (Lock Down, Discipline, Emergency Evacuation, Table of Organization, Fire Drill, Active Shooter, Photo Restrictions, Allergies and Food Restrictions, May not Pick up List, Child Abuse and Neglect)
• Oversee classroom operations and reports directly to the program director
• Follow the handwashing procedures for staff and children
• Expect maintenance issues be reported using the Center Maintenance form. Immediate danger issues must be reported at once to the director or designee.
• Attend annual staff in-service (Full time staff are required to attend. Part time staff are required to attend if it is held on a day they would normally be scheduled to work)
• All other reasonably related duties as assigned.
Additional Requirements:
• Able to engage in wide range of movement (kneeling, stooping, bending, reaching, standing for long periods of time, sitting on floor)
• Able to see and hear within normal ranges, with corrections (e.g. eyeglasses, hearing aid) if necessary
• Able to lift 50lbs
• Able to work in various weather conditions (cold or hot/humid weather, exposure to sun)
• A clear record for fingerprinting and CARI.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Maintain certification in First Aid and CPR Training
• Attend Virtus Training
• Employee must complete timesheet accurately and submit it according to the Payroll schedule. If hours change once a timesheet is submitted, the employee must email their Supervisor and the Human Resources Director. Employee must register on Paylocity to submit their timesheet, view pay stubs, and view tax information.
Education/License Required: Degree in Early Childhood or CDA preferred
Experience/Qualifications Required: Must have experience working directly with children and families, as well as staff supervision. Must have strong communication, organizational, and leadership abilities, alongside knowledge of child development and safety regulations.
