Enjoy working and helping others? Have a passion for early childhood? PATCH is looking for an Island Coordinator to be responsible for the coordination and implementation of PATCH services in the community.


Candidate must reside on Maui or have a set arrival date.

Duties

Essential Duties:

  • Recruits, trains and supervises employees. Ensures compliance with contractual obligations and prepares the necessary reports.
  • Conducts staff meetings.
  • Responsible for the physical maintenance and operation of his/her respective site.
  • Accountable for quality control and implementation of Agency policies & procedures.
  • Coordinates and conducts conferences, trainings, focus groups, and workshops that enhance the goals according to PATCH’s strategic plan.
  • Develops and implements public awareness campaigns under the direction of the Executive Director.
  • Represents PATCH on various boards, tasks forces, and committees as deemed necessary.
  • Assesses child care needs and resources in the respective communities and determines ways in which PATCH might be able to address those needs.
  • Monitors respective budgets and ensures compliance to all contractual commitments of the program he or she is overseeing.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with other organizations as it relates to PATCH’s strategic goals. Includes representing PATCH on various boards, task forces, councils and committees as deemed necessary.
  • Write for, execute and meet reporting deadlines for County of Maui contracts.
  • Conducts outreach activities to market all PATCH services.
  • Connects child care providers and families to community support systems and provides technical assistance.
  • Attends statewide staff meetings as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Working Conditions:

Usually indoors under regular office conditions. Requires long periods of sitting. May visit houses and child care centers and may occasionally be in crowded areas when attending fairs and outreach events.

Work Hours:

7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday- Friday; duties will require occasional overtime and weekend hours.

Equipment Use:

Computer and standard office equipment.

Mental, Physical, and Communication Demands:

The employee is regularly required to sit and must occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds. Must be organized and able to work under minimal supervision. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills. Must be able to supervise and support employees of multi-cultural backgrounds and interact in a multi-cultural community. Must be able to analyze problems and develop effective solutions. Must demonstrate the ability to work independently and closely in a team.

Must possess a valid Hawaii driver’s license with access to an insured vehicle. The employee is required to use their personal vehicle and must be willing to travel to various locations to perform the essential functions of this position.

Requirements

  • Must have a valid driver’s license have access to a reliable vehicle and insurance.
  • BA degree in ECE or related field preferred.
  • 4 years of experience in ECE or related field
  • 2 years of supervisory experience
