Custodian and Floor Care Technician (School Facilities) - Hinesville, GA

Summary

We are seeking an experienced Floor Care Technician responsible for maintaining and restoring flooring throughout a school facility. This role focuses on floor buffing, polishing, and upkeep, ensuring all surfaces remain clean, safe, and presentable.

Duties

Key Responsibilities:

Custodial & Cleaning Duties:

• Clean and sanitize classrooms, restrooms, hallways, and common areas
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and maintain floors
• Restock restroom supplies (soap, paper towels, tissue)
• Remove trash and recycling daily
• Follow health and safety sanitation standards

Key Responsibilities:

Floor Maintenance (Primary Focus):

• Operate floor machines including buffers, burnishers, and scrubbers
• Buff, polish, and maintain VCT, tile, and other hard floor surfaces
• Strip and wax floors as needed
• Maintain proper floor finish and appearance standards
• Identify flooring issues and report repair needs

Support Duties:

• Light cleaning of classrooms, hallways, and restrooms when required
• Assist with spill cleanup and emergency floor care
• Ensure safety signage is used during floor work

Requirements

Qualifications:

• Experience with commercial floor care equipment (required)
• Knowledge of floor stripping, waxing, and buffing techniques
• Ability to work independently and efficiently
• Strong attention to detail and safety

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift up to 30–50 lbs
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform cleaning tasks for extended periods
