Duties

Teachers at Snug As A Bug are responsible for providing attentive care while supporting children's development through engaging daily activities.

Responsibilities include:

• Creating a warm, welcoming, and nurturing classroom environment where children feel safe and supported
• Planning and implementing age-appropriate activities that support early learning, creativity, and exploration
• Encouraging children’s social and emotional development through positive guidance and redirection
• Supervising children at all times to ensure their safety and well-being
• Assisting with daily routines including meals, snacks, diapering, toileting, and rest time
• Promoting healthy habits such as handwashing, cleaning up, and classroom responsibility
• Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment in accordance with licensing standards
• Supporting children’s development in areas such as language, motor skills, social skills, and independence
• Observing and communicating children’s progress and daily experiences with families
• Building positive relationships with children, parents, and coworkers
• Following all center policies and state childcare licensing regulations
• Participating in staff meetings, trainings, and center events as required
• Working collaboratively with other teachers to maintain a positive and supportive team environment

Requirements

Candidates must meet the following qualifications:

• Must be at least 18 years old
• High school diploma or GED required
• Ability to pass all required background checks according to Wisconsin childcare licensing regulations
• Have reliable transportation to and from work
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
• Dependable, patient, and compassionate when working with young children
• Ability to multitask and remain calm in a fast-paced classroom setting
• Physically able to lift up to 25 pounds, sit on the floor, bend, kneel, and actively engage with children throughout the day
• Willingness to complete required state childcare trainings and continuing education
• Ability to follow health, safety, and sanitation procedures

Nice To Haves

While not required, the following experience or qualifications are highly valued:

• Previous experience working in a licensed childcare center or preschool
• Coursework or certification in Early Childhood Education (ECE)
• CPR and First Aid certification
• Experience working with infants, toddlers, or preschool-aged children
• Knowledge of child development milestones and age-appropriate learning practices
• Experience with classroom lesson planning or play-based curriculum
• Experience managing classroom routines and transitions
