Summary
Montessori School of Charlottesville is always on the lookout for loving, dependable people to add to our pool of substitutes. Substitutes have the important role of supporting classrooms (toddler and 3 to 6-year-olds) when regular staff are unavailable. Hours are flexible and dependent on candidate availability. We especially appreciate regular availability. This is a wonderful way to get involved with your school if you’re curious.
We are especially looking for a candidate to provide regular daily coverage in our toddler lunch and nap room while a teacher is on an extended leave, asap.

Duties
Responsibilities include:
- Safe supervision of children
- Classroom/playground monitoring
- Maintaining clean and orderly classroom spaces
- Contributing to the respect and joy in our community
- No instructional duties
Requirements
Requirements include:
- High school diploma (early childhood certification or equivalent preferred)
- Prior experience with young children
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to be reliable, consistent, and flexible
- Ability to easily get up from/down on the floor to children’s level as well as lift up to 30 lbs
- Willingness to learn and adopt Montessori practices
Nice To Haves
Previous experience in Montessori settings preferred
Benefits
Salary entry begins at $17-19/hour. Candidates with Montessori teaching credentials offered a higher rate.
