Summary

Duties

• Supervise and ensure the safety and wellbeing of the children at all times, being alert for the needs and/or problems of the children as individuals and as a group.
• Supervise your assistant to ensure he/she is supporting you in all aspects of your daily program.
• Prepare: a lesson plan using our STEAM curriculum, a monthly newsletter with a calendar along with age-appropriate activities for the children. Email them to the parents and the Director, post it on your bulletin board and deliver a hard copy to the office.
• Send parents a weekly update via email.
• Attend chapel and music once per week with your students.
• Provide substitutes with lesson plans, class roster, information on students with special needs (allergies) and any other information the sub might need regarding the class.
• Keep the classroom, storage rooms (spaces) and bathroom clean, neat and orderly at all times.
• Decorate the classroom with bulletin boards, pictures, children's art, and class work.
• Conduct individual conferences with parents of each child at least once a year in January. If you need to meet with a parent sooner than January, advise the Director.
• Keep the Director informed in advance of program needs.
• Attend at least two (2) continuing education workshops per school year.
• Attend staff meetings, classroom visit and our music programs.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree or at least two years experience in the field of early childhood education. First Aid/CPR Certification (or agree to obtain one).
