We have an exciting, full-time position for a creative, energetic, and organized individual to oversee programming and daily enrichment activities for members supporting multiple locations in central New Hampshire. The Program Specialist is responsible for coordinating, managing, and overseeing the delivery of a broad range of programs and services for the Club's after-school program and summer camp. They will assist with the planning, development, and implementation of different programs where coverage is needed. This position requires strong and exceptional experience.


Must be willing to drive and travel to multiple locations.

Duties

Prepares Youth for Success

  1. Plans and oversees the administration of designated programs and activities that support Youth Development Outcomes.
  2. Establishes program objectives consistent with organizational goals and mission.
  3. Oversees the provision of day-to-day program activities in accordance with established Boys and Girls Club standards and goals.
  4. Ensures that all childcare licensing requirements per the NH Childcare Licensing Bureau are implemented.
  5. Ensures that members are encouraged to participate in a variety of program areas/activities and receive instruction and constructive feedback to develop skills in program area(s).
  6. Demonstrates leadership to ensure proper conduct, safety, and development of members.

Program Development and Implementation

  1. Establishes and maintains program goals and settings to ensure the health and safety of members. Ensures that program staff understands and effectively communicates standards of the program; that they ensure program areas are safe, well-ventilated, and well-lit; and that Club equipment is maintained in good working condition.
  2. Ensures the evaluation of Club programs on a continual basis, including tracking outcome metrics; verifies that programs/activities respond to member needs and address their gender and cultural diversity.
  3. Controls program expenditures within the approved budget.

Supervision

  1. Allocates and monitors work assigned to program volunteers and staff, providing ongoing feedback and regular appraisal. Identifies and supports training and development opportunities for assigned volunteers and staff.
  2. Oversees proper record keeping and weekly reporting, including activities and events conducted, breakdowns of daily participation figures, notable achievements, and any problems/issues.
  3. Ensures productive and effective performance by all program staff and volunteers.
  4. Oversees special programs and/or events (i.e. Keystone, Youth of the Year, and Awards Programs), and/or participates in the implementation of other program activities as necessary.
  5. Increases visibility of Club programs via posting of daily schedules, and announcements of upcoming events through different social media channels, parent emails, etc.

Requirements

Applicants must be at least 20 years of age with a valid driver's license, high school diploma, or general equivalency diploma and one of the following:


  • Written documentation form on file with the department that she or he was qualified and employed as a site director in a school-age program.
  • A minimum of an Associate's degree in early childhood education, awarded by a regionally accredited college or university.
  • Certification of successful completion of training as a recreation director plus 1000 hours of experience working with children in a licensed childcare program.
  • A total of 12 credits in child development, education, recreation, or another field of study focused on children, from a regionally accredited college plus 1000 hours of experience working with children.
  • Current certification as an educator by the Department of Education.
  • Experience working with children totaling 2000 hours and the following: Current certification as a para II educator by the Department of Education OR at least 6 credits in child development, education, recreation, or another field of study focused on children, from a regionally accredited college (can be enrolled in the first course with a written plan to complete 6 credits within 12 months of the date of employment).
  • First Aid and CPR certifications are preferred.

ADDITIONAL EXPECTATIONS

·All of the candidates that are offered a job with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central and Northern New Hampshire will have to submit for an FBI fingerprint background check and submit to a background check through the State of NH Criminal Records Dept. and FirstAdvantage. Note: The State of NH Childcare Licensing Bureau may prohibit you from being employed by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central and Northern New Hampshire should there be a disqualifying finding on your criminal record. In addition, even if the State of NH reviews your records and allows you to work at the Club, we still reserve the right to determine your employment status.
