Hourly Compensation: $17

 

This seasonal position runs mid August - mid June and follows the academic school calendar.


( 1 Floater position West Hartford and Rocky Hill) (1 Afternoon position in West Hartford) (1 am and pm position in Bolton)

 

Hours: Monday - Friday 6:45 -8:30 am and 2:30-6 pm (there is flexibility with days and morning or afternoon shifts)

Wednesdays 1:30-6:00

 

Position Summary:

Assist Head Teacher in providing a supportive, respectful, safe and healthy environment for children enrolled in YWCA Early Before and After School Programs. Support the Head Teacher in the implementation of activities geared to meeting the needs of the children in our care while challenge the interests of the children in a productive and safe manner.

Duties

Essential Functions of the Job:

·        Assist in planning, developing and delivery of varied classroom and outdoor activities that will Assist in planning, developing and delivery of varied classroom and outdoor activities that will enable children to develop and grow in their individual interest and in abilities ad in the development of short and long term goals for improvement of class programs;

·        Assist in maintaining an orderly, safe, healthy, inviting environment in accordance with YWCA policies and procedures;

·        Utilization of the YWCA Name to Face Accountability and Ratio sheets to ensure proper accountability and safety of children; licensing and the agency's health and safety standards;

·        Follow defined State and YWCA protocols for reporting suspected child abuse and neglect;

·        Assist in the development and implementation of curriculum to meet the physical emotional and intellectual needs of each child;

·        Support student activities, to include development and safety through direct participation with children and the performance of various support duties such as snack preparation, delivery, clean-up, record keeping, monitoring of bathroom facilities, etc.;

·        Develop and maintain positive on-going communication with parents in a sensitive and responsive manner;

·        Maintain student information in a confidential manner in accordance with YWCA policy;

·        Assist Head Teacher with completing tasks as outlined in the program requirements;

·        Ensure appropriate classroom behavior management, supporting children by providing positive guidance and redirection, implement individual Inclusion Support Plans, implement and support the Positive Guidance Policies of the YWCA;

·        Assume daily classroom responsibilities in the absence of the Head Teacher;

·        Participate in training and other professional development activities to enhance knowledge and understanding of racial justice and woman's empowerment.

·        Align programs and services both implicitly with mission of eliminating racism and empowering women.

Requirements

Education:

High School Junior/Senior or High School Diploma or GED;

 

Experience:

17 years of age or older; Basic knowledge of the principles of

Child Development; Demonstrated ability to develop age appropriate exhibits and

activities for the classroom; CPR/First Aid certification or certification

within two months of employment.
