The Teacher is responsible for developing a cohesive teaching team, coordinating the curriculum, and managing the day-to-day operational activities of the classroom. Teachers must understand children’s cognitive, social, emotional and physical development in order to ensure a safe and stimulating classroom environment where children are actively engaged and encouraged to succeed. The Teacher must be skilled in communicating with both children and adults in order to meet the needs of the children, effectively guide teacher assistants, and resolve parental concerns.
About Us: Learning Adventure is a licensed 5-Star progressive prek, childcare, and afterschool program serving children ages 3-10 years. Learning Adventure's purpose is to provide high-quality care, education, and nurturing for preschool and school-age children. The Position: You will help distinguish our program with professionalism, with knowledge of best practice and child development, with the dedication to on-going professional growth and support for families, and through a commitment to embrace the joys and challenges of early care and education. Among responsibilities, you will work with our team to *Plan and implement age-appropriate curriculum based on a sound knowledge of child development and understanding of individual needs *Include, support and guide families to be active participants in their child’s growth and development *Seek and participate in professional development opportunities for professional growth and as an effort to advance the field of early education as a profession *Support and utilize the strengths of every person on the team as a means to provide the best care and education for children and to create the best opportunities for professional experience *Establish yourself as a team player who successfully collaborates with other programs and agencies *Learn and practice the skills of leadership and self-reflection About You: The ideal candidate will: *Have, or will have by June 2020, a valid Vermont Early Childhood teacher’s license *Have, or will have by June 2020, Infant CPR and First Aid certification *Two years on the job experience, preferably in a licensed center *Be available for at least 25 hours each week through June 2020 *Be available for at least 35 hours each week beginning September 2020 *Have an interest in learning about Directorship with the potential for ownership in the business within 2-5 years Location: Learning Adventure is the only licensed center in picturesque Grand Isle, just 25 minutes from Burlington or St. Albans. Located in a residential area, we capitalize on the open space and beauty of Vermont.
