The Improvement Association is seeking a Career Counselor that will coordinate with community partners to provide educational and employment training sessions/workshops to provide TANF participants, as well as individuals with income below 200% of the poverty level, with effective marketable employment skills.
Additionally, this position will be responsible for performing job development tasks such as assisting participants in obtaining educational credentials and/or employment certifications and/or fulltime employment, provide counseling to participants regarding career, life planning, potential barriers to employment and/or self-sufficiency, attend meetings as necessary, conduct participant intakes/assessments, and meet with employers to discuss participants’ progress to ensure quality performances.
· Degree preferred
· Minimum requirement of completion of three college training courses with a concentration in the field of Education, Math, English, or related area.
· Knowledge of teaching, counseling, or tutorial experience with adults of low socio-economic backgrounds.
· Must possess good verbal and written communication skill.
· Knowledge of labor market requirements
· Must possess valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and good driving record.
