Child Development Center Program Director - Infant and Toddler Program

Full time, 40 hours per week, non-exempt salary

To ensure the health, safety, and quality of education for all children in the Child Development Center at Timberlake. To work with the Executive Director and other program directors to ensure successful operational management, including curriculum development, staff and facilities management, legal and budgetary considerations, and long-term planning for the success of The Child Development Center at Timberlake Church. Must be of Christian faith with a heart for the vision of ministry.

Essential Functions:

·        Arrive on time, prepared for work.

·        Exhibit and promote a happy, peaceful work environment encouraging teamwork.

·        Establish and maintain a positive rapport with parents, staff, and church members.

·        Actively assume responsibility for all aspects of the program.

·        Coordinate and communicate staff work schedules weekly, finding or providing substitute care for planned and unplanned absences.

·        Review staff scheduling regularly to avoid excessive labor costs.

·        Coordinate with Assistant CDC Director to establish curriculum and provide training.

·        Create lesson plan format and provide teachers with resources/tools for success.

·        Ensure assessment of students and related feedback to parents.

·        Model appropriate classroom management.

·        Assist staff with behavior modification.

·        Assess staff training needs and ensure related training.

·        Create an environment where staff can ask questions and share concerns.

·        Coordinate with Lead Director to regularly review and implement updated policies and procedures.

·        Strategically position workspace and self to be visible or accessible by parents and staff.

·        Promptly return phone calls and email correspondence.

·        Proactively resolve conflicts and concerns of parents, staff, and church members appropriately.

·        Coordinate special events throughout the year that create special memories for the staff; students and families.

·        Coordinate with Lead Director regarding the recruitment, hiring, and onboarding process for new staff and personnel changes working with the Business Manager to ensure paperwork is properly maintained.

·        Ensure ongoing observation of staff and give related feedback. Provide an appraisal of staff performance regularly with informal and formal evaluations.

·        Participate in disciplinary procedures for staff as needed.

·        Actively seek a minimum of 16 hours of related training annually.

·        Ensure: that supervision requirements and staff ratios are met or exceeded at all times.

·        Partnership with church leaders, ensure that rooms, building spaces reservations, furniture and equipment are well maintained.

·        Establish short and long-term goals to promote the success of the program.

·        Ensure optimal enrollment to maximize tuition income.

·        Maintain proper student enrollment documents.

·        Ensure information is given to staff: schedules, picture permission, and allergy information.

·        Coordinate with other program directors and the Lead Director to establish a calendar that maximizes our services to families.

·        Professionally represent Timberlake Church programs to community, parents, church and other child care centers.

·        Ensure an effective line of communication with parents and families.

·        Effectively communicate plans, activities, goals and changes across all programs to staff.

·        Coordinate with Lead Director to maintain up-to-date forms, brochures, and handbooks.

·        Provide tours to prospective families maintaining the waitlist and coordinating start dates and transition dates for all children.

·        Maintain proper documentation, communication, and schedule for the volunteer program; Cuddlers.

·        Work as a member of a team with other program directors.

·        Communicate program concerns with immediate supervisor.

·        Other duties as assigned.




·        Graduate degree in a child-related field+ 6 months of programmatic experience OR

·        Endorsement or bachelor's degree in a child-related field + 1 year of programmatic experience, OR

·        48 semester hours or 72 quarter hours of college credit of which 12 semester hours or 11 quarter hours are in child-related subjects + I year programmatic experience OR

·        Minimum 2-year programmatic experience with one year in a staff supervisory capacity and at least one of the following:

o  One-year early childhood certificate with at least 30 semester hours

o  CDA program that requites high school completion or equivalent, 480 hours working wi1h children. determination of competencies, 120 clock hours of child-related training taught by one with expertise in early childhood education and with documentation of master and competence, observation of the student's application of competence in classroom, combination of 6 years child-related education or programmatic experience, AND 12 semester hours or 110 clock hours in a child-related field, credential or equivalent and 2 years programmatic experience with one year in a staff supervisory capacity

o  Certification of qualification from an internationally recognized Montessori organization; OR

·        3 years programmatic experience including 1 year in a staff supervisory capacity and 'fulfilled a high school program completion or the equivalent. Programmatic experience shall be obtained in a child day center that offers a staff training program, documented minimum 120 hours training during 3-year period

·        CPR/First Aid and MAT Trained, preferred

Physical Requirements

         Able to sit on the floor, kneel, bend, squat and crawl

         Able to lift 35 lbs. or more

         Able and willing to change diapers, clean up body fluids and help with toilet training

Full time employees begin to accrue PTO in their first full month: 0-2 years, 1.25 days accrual per month, 15 days per year.
