The Erik Hite Foundation is a non-profit organization that focuses on the support of the families of the first responders and military members in our community. Our main program is the Child Development Center that serves these families with affordable fees and flexible hours. We are committed to partnering with families to provide the best care and beginning education for the children of our heroes. We want to serve and care for their families following godly principles close to the heart of Erik, as these men and women serve and protect our community.
Assistant Teacher Job description and responsibilities including but not limited to:
Update Brightwheel (Online Childcare Management Program) on a daily basis. Assist with children's documentation and observations in portfolios Maintain an open communication with parents
Assist Lead Teacher in developing lesson plans and age appropriate activities. Attend training year round, completing a minimum of 30 hours per year. Attend mandatory in-service days and staff meetings throughout the year Assist with classroom management and supervision
Guide, assist, and teach children with daily routines (diapering, hand washing, eating, etc...)
Maintain classroom cleanliness and safety
Encourage and engage with children throughout the day. Making sure that classroom environments are age appropriate.
Prepare materials for activities and lesson plans on a daily basis. Assist during outings (nature walks, field trips (3-5yo classrooms only)
Job Requirements: Included but not limited to:
18 years old and up
Ability to run, jump, bend, lift (at least 50lbs.), stand, sit on the floor, etc... Full time 35+hrs Monday through Friday with potentially a rotating Saturday shift Have a valid fingerprint clearance card.
TB Test Required
Have a minimum high school diploma or equivalent, preferably 6 credits in Early Childhood Education, working towards an Associates, Bachelors, or Child Development Associate. Note: Applicants who are not enrolled in school, will be considered if an agreement to attend school for ECE or related field, upon hire.
A minimum of 6 months of experience in a birth to 5 year old classroom. CPR and First Aid certification or ability to obtain certification.
Prefer knowledge of the AZ Learning Standards and Infant Toddler Guidelines for lesson planning and observation purposes.
Prefer knowledge of Quality First program and ECERS and ITERS Rating scales Ability to work as part of a team
