PreK Teaching Staff - Full time and free Childcare!

Summary

Stonewood School North is now hiring a prekindergarten teacher to join our inclusive, mixed age, Act 166 licensed classroom. We are a trauma informed, therapeutic program and work closely with community partners to support at-risk families. Children's ages range from 3-5 years old. This class also includes a full time assistant teacher who has worked in our preschool room for the last two years.

 

Hours for this position are 7:45-4:15, and is a salaried position.

Applicants must have at minimum one year of experience working with children 3-5 years old, and preference for a valid VT teaching license in early childhood education and/or early childhood special education will be given. Stonewood is happy to help applicants understand qualifications for a teaching license, and/or support the process of licensing for qualified individuals. We offer lots of paid time off (80 hours per year + 1 additional sick day per month that can accrue up to 5 for full time employees), and 90% reduced cost childcare to our employees (space permitting). Our school also closes for snow days and most holidays (including a week for Christmas and New Years), all of which are paid days off for staff.

Duties

Key Responsibilities:

• Coordinate and implement educational curriculum by developing classroom activities based on developmentally appropriate practices and Vermont early learning standards
• Lead by example; encourage teaching team success through modeling and coaching.
• Plan individual and group age-appropriate activities to actively engage children and encourage social, emotional, and cognitive growth.
• Maintain frequent communication with parents through informal discussions, daily sheets, journals, portfolios, progress reports, and family-teacher conferences.
• Provide documentation and assessment of student's learning through the use of the Teaching Strategies Gold platform.

Requirements

• Minimum of 1 years of professional child care or prekindergarten experience.
• Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred
• Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills.
• High energy and the ability to work well with others (staff, children, and parents) and to foster a team environment.
• A strong understanding of child development and developmentally appropriate practice
• Excellent leadership, organizational, interpersonal, and professional skills.
• Must clear full background check and fingerprinting.
