Summary


Lead Teachers-Preschool/Toddler:

Full-time positions, 35+hours per week, with generous benefits. Lead a teaching team, guide assistant teachers with observations, assessments, curriculum planning, building strong relationships with children and families. The Lead Teacher position oversees and assures appropriate operations of the assigned classroom. Leads and coaches Assistant teacher(s) by supporting curriculum development, classroom community/management and building partnerships with families. Assures that all Office of Early Childhood (OEC) and National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) requirements are implemented in the classroom. This position provides welcoming customer service to all children, parents, guests and fellow employees

Duties

  •  Treat each child, co-worker and family with dignity and respect.
  • View family- teacher relationship as a partnership, focusing on each child's strengths and abilities with common goals
  • Demonstrate familiarity with and using the CT ELDS text during planning.
  •  Support children's learning across the domains (Social Emotional, Physical, Cognitive and Creative) using developmentally appropriate practice, materials, interactions and expectations.
  • Plan with team to meet individual needs and to provide enriched learning environments.
  •  Provide ongoing differentiated instruction to meet needs of children as identified by data assessment.
  • Use, model and promote positive guidance and techniques.
  •  Know the DOTS/T.S. Gold Assessment tools and Ages and Stages Questionnaire and implement accordingly.
  • Enter observations and identify levels/age bands into the system during scheduled planning day(s) with the team.
  • Ensure a safe and healthy environment at all times by monitoring child areas for hazards or sanitation problems and correcting problems immediately. Use Health and Safety & Classroom Management Forms.
  • Provide appropriate adult supervision and maintain ratios for all children at all times.
  • Promote good hygiene through appropriate handwashing, diapering and sanitation protocols according to WLCDC policies and procedures.
  • Comply and operate the classroom with all licensing regulations, NAEYC criteria and WLCDC policies and procedures.
  • Enforce all safety policies and procedures, understand and implement, as needed, emergency procedures for fire, storms, medical, first aid, CPR, etc.
  •  Attend staff meetings, family meetings/events and other mandatory required in-services both during and after regular center hours are required for this position.
  •  Promote WLCDC policies and procedures as well as the NAEYC code of ethics.
  •  Attend additional workshops, trainings and continuing education courses as required for this position.
  •  Supervise Assistant teacher(s), teacher aids, and substitutes in their classroom.
  •  Assist training substitutes, assistants, floaters, volunteers or others who may be permanently or temporarily assigned to the classroom.
  •  Improve own performance through ongoing reflection and feedback from supervisors.
  •  Develop an annual individualized professional development plan with supervisor and use it to guide and improve practice and professional development.
  • Ensure continuity of care for children by reporting to work on time and maintaining consistent attendance.
  •  Interact with all staff as a team member to ensure optimum program quality.

 

Other Functions:

  • Perform special assignments and projects as assigned.
  • Performs related duties as required.

Requirements

Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in ECE, 2 +years classroom teaching experience. Familiarity with CTELDS and DOTS. Salary is commensurate with educational level and classroom experience in leading a teaching team.

We have provided a high-quality program to Hartford's children and families for 104 years. Our beautiful facility in Hartford's Clay Arsenal neighborhood has 8 School Readiness Preschool classrooms, 8 Toddler Rooms and 1 Infant Room.

Women's League is currently looking for 3 Lead Teachers and 5 Assistant Teachers.

Assistant Teachers-Preschool/Toddler:

Full-time positions, 35+ hours per week, with generous benefits. Be part of a classroom teaching team, sharing in observation, assessment, curriculum planning and commitment in making an impact in a child's life.

Requirements: Associate Degree in ECE, OR 30 ECE credits+ 2 years teaching experience. Familiarity with CTELDS and DOTS is a plus. Salary is commensurate with educational level and experience.


Part time positions, 15-20 hours per week. Be part of a classroom teaching team, assist teachers in preparing classroom materials, support children with transitions and build everlasting relationships with children.

Requirements- 18 years old Highschool Diploma/GED or some ECE credits. Experience working with children, kind, reliable and punctual willing to work in a team.
