Summary

This individual is responsible for the academic, social-emotional growth and development of all children in their care, which may include infants, toddlers, preschool, and after school age children; develops a nurturing relationship with parents and find creative ways to educate and engage all children, according to their uniqueness and learning styles.

Duties

Assist with developing weekly lesson plans and implement age appropriate activities to nurture and stimulate all the domains- GELDS of children's development on their care. Stimulates a developmentally appropriate classroom environment that reflects the children's learning and growth. Demonstrates proficiency in the skills needed to individually evaluate young children. Prepares developmental progress reports/ portfolios. Demonstrate cultural competency and respect for the child's background. Cultivates a classroom environment and activities that encourages and fosters parent participation. Uses proper enunciations. Demonstrates knowledge of and ensure continued compliance with licensing regulations, Bright from the Start, Quality Rated and NAEYC Accreditation criteria. Provides a safe and healthy environment for children. Ensure that appropriate first aid is administered when necessary. Attends monthly staff meetings and other meetings, as requested.

Requirements

Education & Experience: Minimum of a Child Development Associate Credential (CDA), Associate's or bachelor's degree in early childhood education or related field preferred. Minimum of one year's experience in the direct care of young children (Birth- 5 Years). Must complete, annually, at least twenty (20) hours of training in Child Development or Early Childhood Education, including courses in Curriculum Development, Cultural Awareness, Reporting Abuse, or any other courses deemed necessary by the Program Director.


Physical Requirements: Frequently walks, stands, and sits. Reach with hand and arms. Stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, squat, or crawl. Ability to lift and carry up to 25-40 pounds a child, in case of an emergency. May be occasionally be required to drive a motor vehicle. Routinely play on the floor or at small tables, as well as outside, in and around various play equipment with all children. Supervise and assist, as needed, children who are in your direct care.
