We are looking for a preschool teacher who is fun, nurturing, ambitious, has attention to detail, is organized and works well with others. We need someone who is high energy, and excited to co-own with their lead teacher the responsibility for daily classroom operations for up to 29 children ages 3-5 years old. Our preschoolers need a teacher who loves to do projects, be outside, read to early learners, listen with empathy and compassion, and make day-to-day moments an opportunity for learning. We need a positive, outgoing, personable team player to join our team.
Maintain a positive and welcoming environment for all children and their families.
Ensure the MFCC Preschool Program meets or exceeds VT licensing regulations and the NAEYC criteria for accreditation, including:
Health and safety
Work in collaboration with the MFCC teaching staff and Program Director to plan and implement developmentally appropriate curricula to align with the Vermont Early Learning Standards.
Initiate, direct, and facilitate activities with children to aid in development of the following skills: socialization and self-help, language and reading, math, fine and gross motor, as well as art, play storytelling, songs, and dramatic play.
Conduct regular observations and assessments of the classroom environment and child development using the assessment tools (eg. Teaching Strategies Gold) as approved and or required by the MFCC Child Care Director.
Ensure daily paperwork for the Child Care Food Program is up to date
Promote and engage in respectful, proactive communication:
MFCC Child Care Director- regarding any concerns, issues, or questions of staff, parents, and collaborating partners;
Parents- regarding daily activities and schedule; special events; meals; and child specific information including behavior and well-being
Teaching Staff- regarding curriculum ideas, thoughts, or concerns; daily responsibilities
MFCC Co-workers- regarding interpersonal connections, cross-training or sharing of expertise, or collaborative teamwork
Community Partners - regarding referrals for additional resources, services, or information; coordination of services for shared clients.
Provide and promote ongoing opportunities for parent engagement, including but not limited to: parent-teacher conferences, parent volunteer activities, open house events, parent nights, etc.
Engage in and complete every year, from the date of initial hire, the minimum annual professional development training hours, and submit appropriate documentation, as required by VT licensing regulations: 15 hours of professional development.
Adhere to the MFCC Policies and Procedures Manual
Participate in all scheduled direct supervision and team meetings.
Participate in MFCC All-Staff meetings and activities
Maintain certification in First Aid and CPR for infants/children
Adhere to the NAEYC Code of Ethics
Utilize scheduled office and planning time appropriately for the purpose of curriculum planning, complete necessary program or professional development paperwork and documentation, or other required administrative duties as assigned by the MFCC Child Care Director.
Perform additional tasks as assigned
Must meet Associate Teacher qualifications as listed in the State of Vermont Child Care Licensing Regulations for Center Based Child Care and Preschool Programs: CDA, or Associates degree in Early Childhood, Human Development, or Elementary Education OR four (4) higher education courses in related field PLUS at least four years of experience working with young children OR a plan to obtain necessary qualifications within one year of hire.
