Summary

Arts for Kids is currently hiring a reliable, caring, compassionate and fun-loving Lead Teacher for our Infant Room. Hours would be Monday- Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm.

Duties

Maintain accurate and up to date attendance records.

 

Write and follow through with lesson plans developed. Lesson plans must be turned into the director on Fridays. Responsible to post lesson plans on parent bulletin board in your classroom.

 

Plan, schedule, and implement a daily program for the children.

 

Have a daily "Health check" on each child in your care.

 

Responsible for writing a paragraph or more of activities of your group for the monthly newsletter, and have on directors desk by specified date.

 

Wash and sterilize classroom toys on a daily basis.

 

Maintain a clipboard (notebook) to be used in the case of your absence containing the following:

1.            Current class list - update as needed.

2.            Any special needs of children (diet, medical, physical, etc.)

3.            Attendance sheet

4.            Allergy list

5.            Copies of the children's' current feeding and sleeping schedules.

6.            Monthly food program count form.

 

Keep an organized classroom - changing equipment and bulletin boards at least one time per month.

 

Keep classroom clean and neat; avoid collection of paper, etc, from collecting on shelves, cabinets, children's cubbies, etc.

 

Have knowledge of Young Star.

 

Stock classroom with necessary supplies (Kleenex, paper towel, etc.) when needed.

 

Inform Director of all communicable diseases as soon as parent notifies center. Post a sign in the entry to the Infant or Toddler area regarding this outbreak.

 

Keep children's' cubbies in a clean and orderly manner, notify parents when a child is missing items that should be kept at the center.

 

Responsible for guiding and assisting assistances and volunteers.

 

Supervise aides and assistants assigned to your classroom giving clear cut and concise directions.

 

Change room arrangement for the good of the environment.

 

Assure all children have a cubby prior to their first day of attendance.

 

Make yourself available to communicate with parents upon request about their child's' development.

 

Dispense medications as necessary according to signed parent permission slip.

 

Carry out procedures for emergencies and fire/tornado drills.

 

Maintain confidentiality of children in infant/toddler issues. This is also in regards to staff.

Requirements

Associate degree in childcare and development, bachelors in Early childhood or related field, or six (6) credits approved by the Department of Health and Family Services, or have first 6 credits of Early Childhood with 1-year experience as a lead teacher.

Nice To Haves

Must be State Qualified for a Lead Teacher. Prefer candidates with a Registry Level 7 or higher or at least 6 credits of Early Childhood Education. Prefer candidates to have at least 1 year experience working in a group childcare center. Must have or are willing to obtain certifications in: CPR/FirstAid, Mandated Reporter, SIDS and Abusive Head Trauma Prevention.
