Ascension Episcopal Day School is accepting applications for a fulltime Assistant Teacher. Pay is $15 per hour with some benefits.


Ascension Day School serves children ages 6 weeks thru 5 years. Our program is designed to cultivate the cognitive, social, physical, creative, spiritual, and emotional development of each child in a caring educational environment. The Assistant Toddler Teacher will be responsible for helping the Lead Teacher develop and maintain a nurturing and creative community for 12 students ages 12-26 months. We are an early education center not a day care and we have high expectations for quality interactions between teachers and students.



  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of a safe and stimulating classroom environment.
  • Assist in the implementation of curriculum conducive to the cognitive, physical, social, creative, spiritual and emotional development of young children.
  • Actively engage students in activities and explorations that encourage curiosity, creativity, movement, and problem-solving appropriate to their development levels.
  • Model developmentally appropriate behavior management techniques.
  • Assist in the maintenance of attendance and childcare records for the classroom.
  • Work cooperatively and effectively as a team member by communicating information on a continuous basis and attending staff meetings.
  • Participate in staff development opportunities and maintain knowledge of current child development practices.
  • Consistently maintain open and friendly relationships with each child's family.
  • Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible.
  • Assist with school health practices including cleaning/sterilizing the classroom throughout the day and basic childcare routines such as diapering, cleaning noses, and washing hands.



The successful candidate should have the following qualifications:

  • One year of experience in an early education center.
  • Some college-level courses in early education or a related field.
  • Early education training including knowledge of early education teaching methods and child development theory.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, and the ability to work with diverse populations.
