The Burlington Children's Space is seeking a licensed preschool teacher to join our team. This position is full time, full year and includes health insurance, paid sick and vacation time, retirement, and professional development opportunities. Staff work closely with the HowardCenter as part of a Therapeutic Child Care partnership, local school districts through EEE and Universal Pre-K, and a number of community partners to support our dynamic emergent curriculum.
Do you have an interest in food justice, citizenship and the rights of young children, exploring the natural world? Do you get excited about creating curriculum using the interests of the children and their families, utilizing the resources avaible in the neighborhood and surrounding community? Teachers at Burlington Children Space are a group of highly passionate and fun-loving individuals. We collaborate with ECHO, Archibald Community Gardens, Shelburne Farms, Audubon Vermont, Fletcher Free Library, and local farms. We are working together on a project exploring the rights and responsibilities of citizens of all ages and exploring new ways to use curriculum in the outdoor environments of our neighborhood in all seasons.
The preschool team completes assessments using Teaching Strategies Gold, meets weekly for planning and at least monthly to develop individualized care plans and implementation strategies with the HowardCenter. All classrooms participate in parent engagement activities using the Strengthening Families Framework; these include family dinners, open house, curriculum night, parties, and parent education events.
The Burlington Children's Space, housed in the McClure Multi-Generational Center, is an economically and culturally diverse NAEYC accredited program offering early care and education for children from 6 weeks to 5 years old. Programming is based on influences from Reggio Emilia, Italy, the interests and curiosities of the children, and the unique culture and resources of our local community. The Burlington Children's Space is a Therapeutic Child Care Center, working in partnership with the Howard Center and is an Early Head Start partner. BCS is dedicated to serving all populations and our tuition is based on a sliding scale.
