ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF NEKCA-NORTH NEKCA has an exciting position available for an Assistant Director of NEKCA-North.  The Assistant Director of NEKCA-North will primarily be responsible for the daily programmatic operations of our Outreach and Parent Child Center services in Newport, Canaan, and Island Pond. Coordinate volunteers and staff coverage, including direct services to Outreach and PCC clients when covering staffing vacations and shortages. This may include and may not be limited to case coordination and follow-up in providing services to individuals and families who request assistance. Attendance at community and statewide meetings will be expected. This person will also be responsible for working within a budget and timely coordination, accuracy, and submission of grant reports.

Candidates should have experience with leadership, team building, community partnerships and direct service delivery.


Responsibilities Include:

        Document all information and referrals, outcomes, and barriers to accessing services on required forms. Keep complete, accurate, and up-dated records.

        Develop and nurture contacts with other community-based organizations, participate in collaborative efforts to develop and expand services. Work collaboratively with other providers to address needs of low-income households.

        Coordinate and follow-up with delivery of services to be provided to individuals/families

        Fill in where necessary in a team spirited approach to assist in delivering Outreach services

        Provide Supervision of Outreach Support Workers, Housing Support Specialists, receptionist and volunteers; this includes but not limited to 3 month, 6 month and yearly evaluations as well as attend to staffing needs or issues that arise

        Attend Community Partner meeting, Partner with Field Service Director in coordinating meeting time and case information

        Complete necessary reports for grants that are administered; whether they are monthly, quarterly or yearly

        All aspects of the food shelf which includes but not limited to ordering of food, reporting, Overseeing and administering the Rescue food program as well as the VT Fresh program for all 3 sites.

        Attend meetings, trainings and conferences that pertain to all aspects of the Outreach Department

        Participate in community based initiatives that involve housing, food, fuel, and/or emergency services

        Coordinate with the St. Johnsbury Associate Director around grants that are shared between both districts

        Be the point of contact for Crisis Fuel for the Newport district, keep detailed records (spreadsheet) or assists, paperwork and all other data needed for the grant funds 


Minimum Requirements Include:

            Valid drivers license and reliable insured vehicle will be required. Must be able to satisfy the travel requirements of the position.

            Bachelors Degree in Education, Human Services, or Counseling. May consider years of work experience and /or experience working with families. 

            Experience Requirements 2-3 years of supervision

            Knowledge of community resources including local service providers; state and federal agencies.

            Must have excellent communication, written, and interpersonal skills. Computer skills and record keeping desired. 

            Strength based approach while working with community, clients and staff.

            This position is considered a mandated reporter.
