Early Childhood - SUBSTITUTE Teacher Assistant/Aide at nature-based school

Summary

This is for a substitute teaching role. May entail full days (8-5) or afternoon shifts (12-5) to help cover teacher breaks during rest time, afternoon snack, and playground/forest time. Must have knowledge and passion for working with young children and value the outdoors. This position is perfect for someone looking for a quiet work environment where you can interact 1:1 and in small groups with young children.  Relationships are of the utmost importance, and we're in need of someone who can connect and communicate effectively with teachers, children, and their parents. If you like to read books to children, work on small crafts, or lead cooking projects - this is a great role for you!  Teachers must understand children's cognitive, social, emotional and physical development in order to ensure a safe and stimulating classroom environment where children are actively engaged and encouraged to succeed. Old School is a nature-based preschool with the goal of getting children to play and learn outdoors.

Duties

• Assist in the implementation of curricula activities and encourage participation by children.
• Actively engage in activities; manage cleanliness, maintenance, and availability of classroom materials.
• Encourage self-help and good hygiene through behavior modeling.
• Help ensure smooth, daily transition from home to child care center.
• Follow all center policies and state regulations.
• Maintain personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement.

Requirements

• Minimum of 1 year of working with young children.
• Desire to be outdoors in all types of weather.
• Ability to work well with others.
• Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills.
• An understanding of child development.
• Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification.
• Must clear full background check and must pass health screening.
