Assistant Teacher

Summary

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Teacher to work in our early childhood classrooms, assisting in the daily care of children; building of positive relationships with children, parents, and staff; creating a safe, clean, and inviting environment; planning and managing a developmentally appropriate classroom.

Hours:

Infant Room Assistant Teacher: Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:30pm

Two-Three's Assistant Teacher: Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:30pm

Duties

Responsibilities Include:

• Assisting the teacher in implementing developmentally appropriate lesson plans to meet the needs of the children in the classroom.
• Creating a classroom that is fun and supports play and learning.
• Maintaining a clean, safe, healthy and nurturing environment learning environment.
• Support the social and emotional development of each child.
• Provide positive guidance and reinforcement.
• Established positive relationships with families.
• Provide proper supervision of children at all times.
• Diaper changing and potty training
• Maintaining a commitment to professionalism in all communications with children, families, staff and supervisors.

Requirements

Qualifications, Experience and Skills:

• High School Diploma/GED required, CDA or currently enrolled in college courses in a related field preferred.
• Minimum of 18 years of age.
• At least 6 months experience assistant teaching in an early childhood or school age program
• A passion for educating and nurturing children.
• Strong work ethic, must be dependable and have reliable transportation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Nurturing, compassionate attitude and an understanding of child development
• Ability to pass all criminal background checks
• Free from any disability which would prevent one from caring for young children
• Ability to lift a minimum of 40 pounds, and work indoors and outdoors
• Ability to pass a Tuberculosis Screening
• Must have or be willing to obtain within 90 days, First aid/CPR and Virginia Pre-service Training for Childcare Staff
