Small child centered program seeks knowledgeable, dedicated early childhood teacher. Applicant must have a minimum of 12 college credits in Early Childhood Education, CDA, Associates Degree or BA preferred.
Potential to train the right candidate if you have a genuine respect and interest in working with young children. We will support you in obtaining state required college credits/degree.
Our classrooms are co teaching environments designed to meet the growing needs and development of our students. Applicant must have a dedicated desire to work with young children, flexibility within the work week, (4 10 hour days for full time and 2 10 hour days for part time, we can work with other options for part time), knowledge of the State of Vermont Licensing Regulations, child development and the ability to co design developmentally appropriate curriculum. Familiarity with Teaching Strategies Gold is a plus.

1. Assist in maintaining the physical space by incorporating intentional thinking of a well-organized and aesthetically pleasing physical environment, as well as considering the safety of children at all times while considering the individual needs, interest, and passions of the children.
2. Participate in the collection, organizing, and exploration of materials that are open-ended, align with children's play themes, and allow for process learning while minimizing the expectation of finished products.
3. Assist in conducting observations and use the observation to be intentional with planning. Observations will include data regarding the individual child, the group of children, and the overall functions of the classroom such as routines, transitions, and play experiences.
4. Learn and practice completing assessments by intentionally collecting observation (using the center's methods of observation) on children throughout the assessment period.
5. Assist in planning and implementing classroom curriculum and activities/experiences including field trips in accordance with mission statement, philosophy, and policies procedures. Policies and procedures are aligned with Vermont State Licensing, STARS, and National Accreditation and consider the values of Child Honoring while implementing them.
6. Learn and practice incorporating specialized plans and recommendations from community partners and specialized services into your classroom interactions, as needed, to support the individual needs of children.
7. Learn and practice including families in the on-going planning and experiences regarding their child's development. This includes supporting families in obtaining supports and services as needed while caring for and educating their child.
8. Commit to receiving and giving on-going guidance and support that promotes the development of teachers, children, and families.
9. Use management strategies that ensure effective and efficient use of the classroom resources including time, materials, and partnership with your co-teachers.
10. Commit to sharing information with co-teachers and administrators regarding classroom management and the safety and well-being of children, teachers, and families.
11. Learn and practice completing all the required documentation as it pertains to effectively managing the resources of the classroom including, health and safety, parent communication, curriculum, child referral, and community resource coordination.
12. Learn and practice using the communication systems of the center. (Using Non-Violent Communication, Boundary Setting, etc.)
13. Commit to learning and practicing Continuous Improvement to expand and achieve mastery of required classroom skills using After Action Reviews (AAR's), Short Term Improvement Goals (STIGS), Clear Constructive Feedback, and Self-Reflection.
14. Work cooperatively and collaboratively with your mentor leaders and coaches in the classroom practicing the above communication techniques and using the center-approved forms to document your growth and progress to hold yourself and others accountable for meeting the standards and objectives of the center.
15. Follow the mandated reporting procedures for child abuse and neglect.
16. Ensure professional conduct in and out of work, according to program's policies and procedures.
9. Cognitive ability to make informed decisions and approach child development as a critical thinker.
10. MUST love to play, and be able to sustain playing with children for the majority of your work day.
11. Must be willing to participate in professional development training and coaching up to 40 hours per year.
12. Must be willing to commit to learn and practice Child Honoring, the communication techniques of the center, and being a personal leader who is self-aware and reflective.
Familiarity with Teaching Strategies Gold, Vermont State Licensing Regulations, DISC, Non Violent Communication or Honoring Children are helpful, but training will be provided.
Paid training, sick and personal time, vacation, holidays, week of paid holiday and summer break, flexible schedule and education stipend. Bonus paid after 6 months of continuous employment.
