Montpelier Children's House is seeking an energetic candidate to join our team of talented early learning professionals in our 2-3 year old room, a group of eight children supported by two teachers.
Children's House is a Five STAR, Act 166 (Universal Pre-K) partner program serving children aged six weeks through Pre-School. Our days are spent engaging in child-led play both indoors and out, with ample time spent outside in all kinds of weather. We are a group of committed early childhood professionals dedicated to supporting children's social and emotional learning and exploration through play. Children's House is a fun and collegial work environment with competitive pay and ample paid time off and vacation.
We are seeking a committed professional with experience in the field who has a strong understanding of Vermont state regulations as well as best practices for early childhood education. Applicants should have excellent communication skills (with children, co-teachers and parents), be eager and enthusiastic facilitators of children's play and enjoy being outdoors with children in all weather. The ideal applicant is committed to ongoing professional development, has a good sense of humor and unabashedly makes up songs for all occasions (washing hands, putting shoes away, you get the idea!).

Candidates should be warm, nurturing and responsive the the changing needs of young children, respectful in communication and caregiving routines and enthusiastic about supporting young children in their discovery of the world. The co-teacher or teaching assistant (depending on applicant's experience) collaborates to implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum that is responsive to children's needs and Vermont regulations and standards. Our methodology gives educators the opportunity to support young people in all aspects of their growth, with a special focus on social and emotional skills, creative problem solving and material exploration.
Applicants must have demonstrated experience working with children in this age group , ideally at least three years experience working with groups of children; demonstrate a willingness to collaborate in the planning and implementation of a play-based curriculum, and supporting the development of the social and emotional lives of young children.
Minimum High school diploma, some college courses in early childhood education a plus.
Pay commensurate with experience. All teachers have three week-long paid vacations, paid Holidays and paid training.
