Summary
Lead teachers are responsible for working with the Director or Assistant director to create a program that address the specific needs of the children assigned to her care. The curriculum should fulfill the children's education, developmental, cognitive, emotional and social needs. The lead teacher also supervises assistant teachers and volunteers who work in his/her classroom.
Duties
- Plan and implement a full-day, year-round, developmentally appropriate curriculum including weekly themes and lesson plans, inclusion of theme-related materials, and rotation of toys and equipment on a regular basis.
- Provide a safe, responsive, and stimulating environment by actively engaging oneself in daily activities and routines.
- Form and maintain a professional relationship with parents and families.
- Assess all areas of development of children using the center's curriculum tool.
- Reports to Director, Assistant Director, or Administrator
Requirements
- 18 years or older
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
- 24 hours of childcare training (training hours offered through the center)
- Eligible Background Check and Central Registry
- CPR/First Aid Certification
