The Director of Two and Over is a newly created leadership role responsible for the day-to-day operations, curriculum quality, and staff supervision of all classrooms serving children ages two through school age. This position works in partnership with the Director of Infant & Toddler and reports directly to the Executive Director.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide direct oversight and mentorship to lead and assistant teachers in the 2-and-over classrooms
• Ensure curriculum planning aligns with developmentally appropriate practices and Doorway to Learning's program philosophy
• Conduct regular classroom observations and provide meaningful, growth-oriented feedback to teaching staff
• Manage scheduling, coverage, and staffing for assigned classrooms
• Partner with families through proactive communication, conferences, and conflict resolution
• Monitor compliance with Wisconsin DCF childcare licensing requirements
• Support enrollment processes, including family tours and transitions
• Collaborate with the Executive Director and board on program development, staff evaluations, and policy updates
• Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and trauma-informed center culture
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field
• Minimum 3 years of experience working with children ages 2–5 in a licensed childcare or preschool setting
• Minimum 1 year of supervisory or lead teacher experience
• Current CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire)
• Strong working knowledge of Wisconsin DCF childcare licensing standards
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to pass a Wisconsin Caregiver Background Check
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in ECE, Education, or related field
• Experience in program development, CLASS observation, or Youngster
• Familiarity with childcare management software (Procare, Brightwheel, or similar)
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
