Summary

Palmetto Shared Services Alliance (PSSA) is a South Carolina based nonprofit dedicated to strengthening childcare providers through business supports, professional development, and innovative workforce solutions.

The Director of Engagement & Impact oversees PSSA’s statewide professional development strategy while ensuring that data, partnerships, and communication efforts align to demonstrate measurable results. This role manages the professional development team, supervises data and resource management staff, and helps ensure that programs are implemented efficiently, evaluated effectively, and shared widely.

The Director serves as both a leader and connector, supporting statewide training efforts, driving data-informed decision-making, and cultivating relationships that strengthen South Carolina’s early childhood workforce. Some in-state travel for conferences, trainings, and partnership meetings is required. This position is based in South Carolina and there is no budget for relocation.

Duties

50% • Professional Development Leadership & Oversight


  • Manage and support the professional development team, ensuring statewide training programs meet quality standards and align with PSSA’s mission.
  • Oversee scheduling, coordination, and delivery of trainings, conferences, and special events across South Carolina.
  • Supervise professional development contracts, budgets, and grant deliverables.
  • Ensure trainers are credentialed, supported, and equipped to provide engaging, high-quality sessions aligned with DSS and SC Endeavors standards.
  • Track and evaluate training outcomes to assess effectiveness, guide improvement, and inform grant reporting.
  • Represent PSSA at professional development events and conferences to maintain strong relationships with partners and stakeholders.
  • Train as needed in areas of expertise.

25% • Data Management, Evaluation & Impact


  • Oversee organization-wide data collection and analysis to measure reach, participation, and impact across all PSSA programs.
  • Collaborate with department leads to ensure consistent tracking and reporting processes.
  • Translate data into actionable insights that inform decision-making, grant activities, and partner communications.
  • Supervise staff focused on resource and data management to ensure accuracy and alignment with statewide goals.
  • Work with leadership to prepare impact reports and visualizations for funders, state partners, and the public.

25% • Engagement, Collaboration & Partnerships


  • Strengthen relationships with partners, funders, and agencies to expand opportunities and increase PSSA’s statewide visibility.
  • Support external communication and outreach efforts that connect providers, trainers, and partners to PSSA’s tools and resources.
  • Collaborate with leadership on strategic initiatives, grant development, and partnership projects that enhance sustainability and reach.
  • Participate in statewide meetings, panels, and events to share insights and represent PSSA’s mission and impact.
  • Promote collaboration and shared learning across all teams within PSSA.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in: Early Childhood Education, Education, Sociology, Psychology, Communications, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in professional development, program management, or adult learning.
  • Strong skills in data collection, reporting, and using information to improve outcomes.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and relationship-building abilities.
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to travel within South Carolina.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in early childhood education, workforce development, or nonprofit systems.
  • Familiarity with South Carolina’s DSS, SC Endeavors, or similar statewide frameworks.
  • Background in grant or contract management and program evaluation.
  • Understanding of adult learning theory, instructional design, and quality improvement practices.
