Floater Daycare

Summary

Ladder of Learning is seeking a flexible, dependable Floater Teacher to support classrooms throughout the center. The Floater provides coverage for breaks, planning periods, and staff absences while helping maintain a safe, nurturing, and structured environment for children. This role includes assisting Lead Teachers with daily routines, supervising children, supporting lesson activities, and ensuring classrooms stay clean and organized. The ideal candidate is patient, adaptable, and able to step into any age group with a positive, professional attitude

Duties

• Provide classroom coverage for breaks, planning periods, and staff absences
• Support Lead Teachers with daily routines, activities, and supervision
• Maintain a safe, nurturing, and structured environment in every classroom
• Assist with diapering, toileting, meals, and transitions as needed
• Follow all center policies, DECAL regulations, and CACFP procedures
• Help keep classrooms clean, organized, and prepared for learning
• Build positive, professional relationships with children, families, and staff
• Step into any age group (infants–preschool) with flexibility and a positive attitude
• Communicate effectively with the administrative team regarding classroom needs
• Participate in required trainings and staff meetings

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or GED

Experience working with children in a licensed childcare center preferred

Ability to step into any classroom (infants–preschool) with confidence and flexibility

Strong understanding of basic child development and age‑appropriate practices

Positive, professional attitude with strong communication skills

Reliable, punctual, and able to adapt quickly to changing classroom needs

Ability to follow directions from Lead Teachers and administration

Must pass a comprehensive background check and meet all DECAL requirements

Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and actively engage with children throughout the day

Comfortable assisting with diapering, toileting, meals, and transitions
