Early Childhood Lead Teacher

Summary

Mālamalama Waldorf School is on the eastside of the beautiful island of Hawai’i and is accepting applications for a Lead Early Childhood Teacher, supported by an assistant, for the 2023/2024 school year whose love for children is complimented by their ability to work well with colleagues and parents. We are looking for individuals with enthusiasm and commitment to Waldorf Education to be guiding forces in our welcoming school.

Duties

Duties include:

• Leading a nurturing, play-based classroom rooted in Waldorf early childhood principles
• Creating a consistent daily rhythm and seasonal curriculum that supports the developmental needs of young children
• Holding a calm, loving, and structured classroom environment
• Preparing and leading songs, stories, movement circles, and practical activities
• Observing and supporting each child’s social, emotional, and physical development
• Guiding and mentoring assistant teachers and supporting a collaborative teaching team
• Communicating clearly and warmly with parents and participating in parent conferences
• Attending faculty meetings, school events, and professional development opportunities

Requirements

Ideal candidates will be experienced Waldorf educators, have completed Waldorf Early Childhood training, and hold a bachelor’s degree or higher. Previous Waldorf teaching experience is preferred. We are seeking individuals with a commitment to excellence in teaching along with excellent communication skills providing parent education and working collegially. Our Lead Teacher will have a joyful love for the young child. Other requirements: First Aid/CPR certified, possesses a Director/Teacher designation for a Center-Based program with Hawai`i Dept. of Human Services Early Childhood Registry, pass a background check and have 12 ece credits.
