Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Assistant Preschool Teacher to support early childhood education in a nurturing and engaging classroom environment. The ideal candidate will assist in implementing curriculum, fostering a positive learning atmosphere, and supporting the developmental needs of young children. This role is perfect for someone who is passionate about helping children grow academically, socially, and emotionally in a licensed childcare or private school setting.
Responsibilities
Duties
- Assist the Lead Teacher in planning and implementing engaging, developmentally appropriate lesson plans that support literacy, math, and social-emotional learning.
- Help maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment that promotes learning and play.
- Provide individualized support to children, including toddlers and preschoolers, to encourage cognitive, social, and emotional development.
- Support inclusive classroom practices for children with diverse needs, including those with autism or other developmental differences.
- Promote positive behavior through effective classroom management strategies and modeling appropriate social skills.
- Assist with daily routines, including circle time, meals/snacks, nap time, and outdoor play, ensuring all safety protocols are followed.
- Communicate effectively with children, families, and team members to support a collaborative learning environment.
- Help document children’s progress and participate in team meetings, curriculum planning, and developmental assessments.
Requirements
- Previous experience working with children in a daycare, preschool, or private school setting preferred.
- Basic knowledge of early childhood development, including literacy, math readiness, and behavior management.
- Experience supporting children with special needs (e.g., autism or developmental delays) is a plus.
- Familiarity with early childhood education approaches such as Montessori or play-based learning is beneficial.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- A positive, patient, and flexible attitude.
- Coursework or certification in early childhood education is preferred but not required.
