Duties

Daily Operations

  • Oversee the day‑to‑day functioning of the center floor, ensuring smooth transitions, adequate coverage, and consistent routines.
  • Monitor activity areas to maintain a safe, clean, and developmentally appropriate environment.
  • Checking daily report logs
  • Respond to immediate needs, incidents, or concerns with calm, sound judgment.

 

Staff Leadership

  • Provide on‑floor guidance, coaching, and support to staff.
  • Assist with scheduling, break rotations, and staff assignments.
  • Model best practices in child engagement, behavior guidance, and communication.

Child Safety & Well‑Being

  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and licensing regulations.
  • Ensure safety drills are completed.
  • Conduct regular safety checks and address hazards promptly.
  • Ensuring monthly classroom cleanings get done.
  • Support staff in managing behavior, resolving conflicts, and implementing positive guidance strategies.

 

Family & Community

  • Greet families, answer questions, and support a welcoming, inclusive environment.
  • Send simple reminder messages to families as needed.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with parents and caregivers.
  • Assist with tours, events, and family‑centered activities as needed.

Requirements

Education, Experience, and Qualifications:

-       Have an ECE state certificate or equivalent by August 1, 2026, or have a set plan with MERIT to obtain the required certificate(s)

-        Willingness to exceed DCYF annual training requirement of 10 hours per year

-        At least two years of experience working with children in a childcare environment

-        Strong writing, speaking, and communication skills

-        WA State Child Abuse Clearance and Criminal History Record Background Check

-        Candidates bilingual in Spanish or other languages are highly encouraged to apply
