St. John's Episcopal Church Summer Camp 2026
"Fun in the Son"
This position of Summer Camp Leader begins June 1st, 2026 and ends August 14th, 2026. This position is paid hourly. The Summer Camp runs for 10 weeks (we will be Closed the week of June 29th-July 3rd) for vacation. The working hours for the position are expected to be 27.5 hours/week, on Mondays through Fridays between the hours of 12:00-5:30pm.
The camp leader will be working with 3-6 year old children to have a fun, active, and exciting time at a day camp during their parents working hours, in an environment where they know their children are safe and well cared for. There’s 10 themed weeks of play based learning, local field trips, outdoor recreation, water play and learning about God’s love!

Duties
Basic Expectations:
- Prepare classroom to fit needs and close classroom at the end of the summer camp.
- Work with the directors and staff team to create weekly themed plans that meet our goals.
- Develop and maintain a constructive and ongoing rapport with children and parents.
- Manage day-to-day activities, including lunch, afternoon activity, a rest period, snack, free play, outdoor play, and bathroom breaks.
- Leave the classroom in reasonable order each day to facilitate the custodial services in the evening.
- Submit requests for needed supplies to the Directors.
- Notify the directors in case of illness or scheduled absence and assist in obtaining your substitute.
Requirements
Minimum Requirements include:
- A minimum of a High School Diploma
- Previous teaching, early childhood education OR related field volunteer experience preferred
- Caring and nurturing attitude towards children
- A cooperative spirit for working in a team environment
- The confidence to share about faith with your students
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with children, parents, and fellow leaders
- Must submit to and pass background checks
- Must be able to pass a random drug test
- Will be required to complete a "Safe Church" training program through the Episcopal Church
- Will be required to complete approved CPR course once hired - if not already obtained
Benefits
The position is paid hourly. Additional hours possible, if able to substitute for morning Camp leaders on days they must be absent.
Salary : $12.77/Hr
